Meet
Bruce Boyd
Bruce Boyd is the co-owner and innkeeper of Lang House Chicago, a 5-suite bed and breakfast, and Emil Bach House, a vacation home and event space designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Boyd oversees all aspects of running the bed and breakfast and vacation home, including general inn keeping, breakfast service, guest services, maintenance, reservations, budget and financials.
Before Lang House and the Emil Bach House, Boyd worked as an estate manager where he was responsible for managing a large household. He handled hiring, training and management of staff, household bills, accounting, budgeting, landscaping and property-related purchases.
Going above and beyond is Boyd’s style, which helped him drive success as a Realtor, community manager and a trainer for employees of a national franchise.
After teaching middle school in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Boyd opened and managed Treetops B&B for five years, and oversaw two vacation cabin rentals in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Boyd, who always had a love for traveling, started in hospitality as a Caribbean Regional Supervisor with Thompson Vacations in Nassau, Bahamas.
Boyd was born and raised in the mountains of Pennsylvania, and later moved to North Carolina. He is the author of “King of the Mountain – The Bruno Family Story,” which covers his family’s side of the story surrounding the so-called Kelayres Massacre. Boyd earned his BA in education from Elon University and a master’s degree in Geography from the University of Minnesota.
